#25 Your group novel overall

Christopher finally met with his mom and Roger.(Her new husband) She was really kind and gentle as I expected. When he was taking a bath, his mom asks if she can touch his hand and of course he said "No", because he doesn't like someone to touch the part of his body but I felt warm inside my heart when I was reading this scene because I could tell she really really loves him and wanted to touch and hold him.

Like I wrote on the fourth paper, I thought Ed is coming to her house to take Christopher back, and he did really come to her house. As I listened the conversation between his mom and dad, he was angry and I thought he is going to pull him back no matter how he acts but he was not like that.
When he and Christopher are talking, he asks him to do a deal with him and he said," I don't care how long it takes, if it's a minute one day and two minutes the next , and it takes years I don't care". His idea was to spend little time each day and show him that he can trust him. He did killed Wellington and that is unacceptable. However, he regrets what he has done and started his new project and I really like his idea.

Overall this book was fantastic!!! I read all the page and it wasn't even hard to finish the book!!!
All the questions came out at the beginning were answered at the end. Thank you for letting me choose the first choice even though I was the last person who posted the choice up on the blog!!!

#24 Group Novel: forth fifth

Usually I'm reading over the limit page,, but in this section I couldn't enjoy as much as I could in previous section. From pg 135 to 180, they were all about how he gets to the station and what he is thinking in his head while he was looking the station so it was very boring....

Favourite character in this chapter is a policeman at the station. At the station, a policeman interrupts Christopher asking why he has been walking around in the same spot again and again, but Christopher was keep saying he wants to go to visit his mother in London, and when policeman asks if he has a ticket or money, Christopher explains that he has money but he doesn't know how to use it but he was keep telling that he wants to visit his mother in London....so I think it made policeman thinks worry about Christopher. I like how he was trying to help him out.^^

#23 Group Novel: third fifth

He finally solved a question from the beginning of the book!!! His father was the one who killed Wellington with a garden fork...! and Christopher's mom is alive and not passed away!!! I was so excited to read this chapter because people are talking about "Who killed Wellington~~" and said "You will know it around page 120". First mind comes up on my mind when I was reading the section of his father's confession of murdering, was SHOCK!!!!! and Why??? I feel sorry for his dad ,,because he murdered Wellington by his jealous to Mrs.Shears. Love made him to murder Wellington because he couldn't control himself so I know how he feels, but I think his son couldn't understand how he feels...

#22 Group Novel: second fifth

In the second fifth, I really enjoyed to read how Christopher is thinking in daily life. In the book, he explains about how he can determine whether it is good day or bad day for him by looking the cars in a row on on the way to school. Usually we don't even know whether it is going to be a super good day or black day but Christopher do know how , and it inspired me a lot.

One of the interesting feature of this book is that they are showing many pictures. I like how this author put variety of pictures in the book because it gives us clear information of what Christopher is thinking because his thinking is too difficult to understand without picture.

#21 Romeo and Juliet: overal thoughts

I personally don't like Shakespeare much but overall, I think Romeo and Juliet was very good story even though some part of the movie was little cheesy. In this century, I don't think we can find true love and think about other person like Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet is known as the most painful love story and it is very famous story in the world so I was excited to see the movie, but as we start watching Romeo and Juliet, because they're using their form of English, it was difficult to understand what they were saying, and what they are saying in each chapter but overall I really like its story.

Romeo and Juliet Questions

1. What does Paris mean when he says, "For Venus smiles not in a house of tears"?

-He means Venus would not smile on him in a house of tears. In other words, the goddess of love would not give him what he wants, which means that he knew he could not properly court Juliet.

2. Explain the dramatic irony in the conversation between Paris and Juliet in front of the Friar.

-She has to act like she is interested and act like she really loves him to be married on Thursday even though Juliet is already married to Romeo.

3. What is the Friar's plan to help Juliet be reunited with her true love?

-Friar sets out a plan for both her and Romeo to avoid Juliet and Paris getting married. He gives Juliet a special portion which makes her seem dead for 42 hours, and when Lady Capulet finds out her, he knows that they are going to place her in a cave so he wrote a letter to tell his plan to Romeo which tells him to go meet Juliet in the cave after 42 hours when she wakes up so they can leave Verona to be together forever.

4. How will Romeo hear of this plan?
-By a letter from Friar Lawrence.

-After she heard the plan from Friar Lawrence, she went to tell her parents that she is okay, or actually she told them that she wants to marry with Paris on Wednesday instead of doing it on Thursday because she couldn't wait until Thursday to start her plan.

-He was pleasure to hear it from Juliet, so he changed their wedding on Wednesday from Thursday
as she asked him to do.

-Juliet tells the Nurse and her mother that she does not need any more help and that she wishes to be left alone.

-Juliet is afraid to drink the potion because she is scared that the potion will actually work or not because if the portion didn't work, then she will have to marry Paris in the morning. She also worries that she might die by that potion and can't make her to meet with Romeo.

#20 Romeo and Juliet.......3/5s in

Now we watched 3/5 movie,, and the scene what I remember the most is the scene when Mercutio and Tybalt dies. Mercutio- in the book when he was getting killed by Tybalt, he said his lines about almost one whole page but in the movie he didn't say his line like he did in the book. I liked to hear his famous line "A plague on both your houses..!" but I was expecting to hear more from him because those lines are one of the example of Shakespeare's feature, which he likes to let person talk very long before that person dies. The story was very interesting but it was very difficult to understand their language even though I used my play-book and followed their line while they were saying their line.

#19 Group Novel.....the first fifth

I love this book!! When I read through the first page, I thought "I can read this book!", because all the sentences are in simple sentence and it was easy to read. This book attracted me at the very beginning of the page when the main character Christopher found a dog stabbed with a garden fork, because when I first looked at the title picture of this book all I knew was just about a dog and I didn't even think about the first page is going to start with a scene of slain dog. First task was to read up to page 45, but I went over the page because I couldn't stop my self to read more.

ACT Three, Scenes 1 and 2

1. Why does Benvolio want the Montagues to get off the streets?
-Benvolio tried to stop it because he didn't want them to start fighting and he also remembered what Prince said to him.

2. How does Mercutio respond to him?
-Mercutio said that he won't lose because he had won many times and not afraid of Tybalt. He didn't listen what Benvolio says even though he was trying to stop him for him.

3. What is Benvolio afraid of when Tybalt shows up? -He was afraid of fighting between Romeo and Tybalt. He doesn't want to see his friend Romeo to get injured.

4. How does Romeo's response surprise Tybalt? -He said he will fight with him. This surprised Tybalt because it was the first time Romeo rejected his opinion.

5. Mercutio's famous last words (what phrase does he utter upon realizing he is dying)? -He said "A plague on both your houses!". Both Montague and Capulet family had hurt him so bad so he said he wants them to get hurt.

6. How does Romeo seem to blame Juliet for what has happened?
-Romeo said all the cause of fighting were Juliet because if he didn't love Juliet, he won't hate Tybalt and Mercutio was still there sitting with him. He said that Juliet forced him to fight with Tybalt and that ended up with result of Mercutio's death.

7. After Romeo kills Tybalt, what does Benvolio urge him to do? why?
-Benvolio told Romeo to run away because if other people noticed what he has done, he will defenitely get arrested, or might be killed for killing Tybalt.

8. What does Benvolio emphasize in his explanation of the events to the Prince? -Benvolio emphasized that Romeo was trying not to be killed by Tybalt because he had a gun and he knew Tybalt was trying to kill him. Romeo did killed Tybalt, but not because he wanted to, or on his purpose, he did it to protect himself and said that Benvolio didn't do anything with killing Tybalt but he tried his best to stop their fighting.

9. What does Lady Capulet want to see happen? -Lady Capulet wanted Romeo to be killed because he killed her family Tybalt and he was Montague family.

10. What does the Prince rule? -He didn't kill Romeo, but he banished Romeo not to walk in Verona. If he did, he will be killed.

1. Describe Juliet's mood at the beginning of the scene. -She was very happy to see Romeo, but once she heard the story from her nurse, she was getting angry because he killed her cousin Tybalt and it also made her confused because she couldn't believe what Romeo has done.

How does she describe Romeo when she receives news of what has happened? -When she receives news from her nurse, she said Romeo is an evil man and she couldn't believe it because she couldn't see any evil side from his face. So she thoughts he was hiding his real face when he meets Juliet and had acted nicely.

3. According to the Nurse, what does this show? -This made her thinks all the men are not trustworthy, unbelievable and they are all telling a lie to woman to look them nicely.

4. Juliet's attitude changes again. Describe.
-Even though he killed her cousin Tybalt, she still loves Romeo so she changed her mind to listen Romeo's opinion why he killed Tybalt because she wanted to believe her husband and Romeo might have a right reason to cause him death.

5. What does the Nurse offer to do for Juliet?
-Nurse offer to bring Romeo to meet Juliet because she said she wants to find out why he killed Tybalt.

ACT ONE SCENE FIVE

1. What words does Romeo use to describe his first sight of Juliet?
-Romeo said "O, she doth teach torches to burn bright!!! ".
This means that Juliet is too bright to see like a torch!! This means that he couldn't see any girl around but her, because she was the only one who was brightening.

2. How does Tybalt feel about the Montague visitor?
-Tybalt didn't like Romeo to show up in their dance because he was Montague Family and Tybalt was Capulet.

3. Why does Capulet urge patience and caution?
-Because Capulet didn't want Romeo to fight, or kill Tybalt to destroy party's mood and he also thought that it could make him look bad.

4. Does Tybalt agree to anything?
-He didn't agree to anything. He just leaves their party.

5. Rate Romeo's opening lines to Juliet. Explain.
-10 out of 10. His lines were all created during the ancient time, so it is little cheesy to me but Juliet felt good with those lines so I think he did a great job at opening.

6. What does Romeo say to the news about Juliet's family?
-Romeo showed his expression emotionally when he felt in love with Capulet's daughter Juliet. He said "A Capulet .....??" at the bottom of the stairs. He is in Montague Family and Juliet is in Capulet so they have to hate each other but now he fell in love with a person who he has to hate.

7. What does Juliet say once she is told that Romeo is a Montague?
-She said "My only love sprung from my only hate". She also shocked that Romeo is in Montague because even they are both fell in love with each other, she knows they can't be together.

8. Describe the mood at the end of this scene/act.
-At the end, they both felt guilty because they fell in love with a person who has to hate the most and they were still loving and can't stop loving. They were both thinking about each other everyday even they couldn't meet so much. The mood at the end was so sad and lovely.

Iiii Romeo and Juliet

1. What is meant by a "man of wax"?
-it means "a man who is too perfect to be real". He must have been sculpted, because real people can't be perfect. It means he is handsome and good looking guy!!

2. Describe Juliet
-Juliet is beautiful but she is also "Childish". Well, she is still 13,14 years old so she doesn't have enough experiment like adults have. She is doing things without thinking and rushes too quickly into situations and acts so when she first met with Romeo, she didn't even think about who is Romeo, or where did he came from. She immediately believes Romeo's sweet description of love and trying to get out of her house and her family. Juliet didn't think that her love is too dangerous and not allowed to. I think she is like " I love Romeo and Rome loves me as much as I love him.. then why don't we go out together? I don't care what's going to happen after we disappeared from the house. I don't care about my family. If I can live with you forever, I will do anything."
She rushes into this relationship and marriage, and never questioning that maybe this might be a bad idea for both of them. Maybe she is an idiotic for a bit.

3. Describe her nurse
-Her nurse is similar to her parents. She is one of the people to force Juliet to get marry with Paris.
Sometimes she is very helpful and could stand on Juliet's side to talk against Capulet like the scene when her father told Juliet to marry with Paris and Juliet rejected, lady Capulet left Juliet alone at the front door but her nurse was sitting with Juliet to help her out.

4. Describe her mother
-Cold, selfish, violent, and didn't think about Juliet very much. As long as Juliet get married with Paris I think she's happy because her husband wants it to happen. However in some part of her head she is also thinking about what Juliet really wants to do, and who she really wants to marry with because she is her mother.

5. As a young person of the 21st Century, what is your reaction to this pressure being placed on young Juliet?
-Right now in this world, we are all having human rights so I can't agree with their idea. She is too young to marry, and it was not right to pressure her to get her marry. She is the only one who can make a decision who she really wants to be with. Her happiness doesn't depend on anyone but her!!

Iii Romeo and Juliet

1. What does Paris want?
-Paris wants to marry with Capulet's daughter Juliet.

2. What is Capulet's first response?
-He said Juliet is too young to marry with him.

3. How does Paris respond to this?
-No matter how old she is, Paris said that she is not too young to get marry with him.

4. How do you respond to this?
-I think Capulet was right. Juliet is too young to marry with Paris...

5. What does Capulet hope will happen at the party?
-Capulet was hoping for Paris to find another good person to marry with because Capulet didn't want Paris to marry with his daughter Juliet.

6. What is Benvolio's hope for the party?
-He is very nice friend of Romeo and he is always thinking about what Romeo wants to do. At the party, Benvolio was hoping for Romeo to enjoy the party and moreover, he was thinking if Romeo can find any cute girl other than Rosaline because he seems like he wasn't really care about his fiance Rosaline.

7. Romeo's response?
-He said he doesn't want to go to the party because he doesn't have any clothes to wear to hide from the Capulet (Benvolio did ) , and because he is in the Montague Family, he was afraid to go inside of Capulet's house and see Capulet Family because he thought it might cause them to fight.

8. Has Shakespeare created an interesting story so far? Explain.
-I think Shakespeare has created an interesting story so far. First half of the story is all about the comparing between Capulet and Montague family and how Romeo and Juliet loving each other even though their parents were not expecting them to be together.

-I think his family is bothering him. He fell in love with Juliet, but she is in Capulet. He knows that he can't love with her because Romeo is in Montague and Juliet is in Capulet. If their parents noticed his love, they might kill them.

Q.Why is he getting up early and then shutting himself in his room?
-I think he getting up early and then shutting himself in his room because he was so sad and he didn't want other people to see his sad face.

Q.What kind of friend is Benvolio?
-Benvolio is Romeo's best friend and he is very kind person. When Romeo wants to be left alone, he leaves him alone, when he wants to talk with him, Benvolio is there to listen his story carefully. When Romeo starts fighting, Benvolio tries to stop him. He also spend most of the time with Romeo so I think Benvolio is the only one who can understand real Romeo.

#16 Chapter12 The Cry of the Hunters

Finally I finished reading this book Lord of the Flies. I've already watched the movie version of this series so I knew its ending but I really enjoyed the ending because the boys are rescued. They are rescued and that's what they wanted to happen but after Jack killed Ralph's friends, I don't think Ralph was expecting to be rescued because he was now alone- no Piggy, no Simon, no Sam and Eric....

I was very scared to watch their killing of each other but it was also fun to see their change compare from the beginning of the book. Jack couldn't kill the pig when he first arrived on the island and now he changed to person who can kill the pigs, and even humans.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was way better than "Cue for Treason" and "The Midnight Summer Dream" from the Grade9 English.^^

#15 Chapter11 Castle Rock

I still can't believe at all that Piggy died at the end. Jack killed Simon before and now he killed another human. I remember the scene when Jack and his hunters were playing with a rock at the top of the castle rock. Like we learned during the class, this scene is foreshadowing the scene at the end which it is describing the scene of killing Piggy with a rock. I thought Jack is the only who can kill the human but he didn't kill him directly. He used his hunter to kill him...so it wasn't all his fault.. I'm so scared that now they all changed to human who can easily kill others.

#14 Chapter10 The shell and the glasses

Separation between Ralph and Jack being worst again. At the very beginning of the book, Jack did listen least one idea from Ralph but in this chapter he was taking his hunters to take over Ralph's team and didn't even listen what Ralph was trying to say. Close to the end of the chapter, Jack's tribe came up to Piggy and took his glasses.. Piggy lost his way to see but Jack didn't care about it. What I thought through reading the chapter is that the real human can do everything for their want. Jack wants to be in the centre of the group but he couldn't at the begging so he took Ralph's power (conch) and all the hunters and Piggy's glasses.

#13 Chapter9 A view to a Death

Poor Simon... I feel so sad what Jack and his hunters did to him. Beast was the biggest fear in that deserved island, and they were all afraid of seeing those beasts surviving on the island. Simon was my favourite character in the book and I was hoping for them to be rescued including Simon and he was killed by his group member Jack and his hunters because they thought Simon was a beast??! I can't believe Jack!!! Ralph, Piggy, and Simon finally figured that "beast" is not real and he was killed as a beast... Jack attempts to kill a pig through the book and I though he was being cruel and worst everytime because he was killing to see a blood and not the pig. I was surprised that Jack finally killed the human..

#12 Chapter8 Gift for the Darkness

In this chapter, I was surprised what Jack did to Ralph. When they arrived on the island, they all decided to follow their rules and a conch was one of the biggest item to symbolize who is the leader. However, when Piggy took a conch and blew it, Jack didn't even listen what Piggy was talking and unbelievably, he and his hunters ran away from where Ralph and Piggy were to hunt another pig. I thought they will come back as soon as they hunt the pig but they weren't. Jack surpened both ends of stick and he stabbed that pig's head through the top of the stick and putted other side on the ground. This pig head is representing their power and the title of this book "Lord of the Flies".
Simon was talking with Lord of the Flies, but I wonder how did he talked with a pig head.

#11 Chapter7 Shadows and Tall Trees

I like this chapter. They(Sam and Eric) finally figured out what the beast was. It was a human, and he was a pilot who ejected from the plane while he was fighting. If he was the real face of the beast, then why did they saw a beast coming from water? I think the shadows in the jungle represents their own fears and I'm not sure about tall trees.. I like Simon in this book. He is the only boy who feels differently. He is not afraid of any darkness or the beast who is surrounding in the forest.

#10 Beast from Air

Chapter 6 opens with a parachuting body drifting down to the ground from the sky. First thought when I read through few sentence, was that they are going to be rescued by a guy just coming from the sky,, but we still had to read about half of the book after it so I thought some extra story is fitting in this book like "what happened after they get rescued" but it wasn't. Parachuting guy was already dead. They missed another chance to get rescue.

I wonder what Sam and Eric saw in that forest, because I thought the beast is just their imagination and not exist. They said that the beast had wings, teeth, and claws, and there was something moving behind its head. If the beast is just in their head and not real, it is weird them to see same appearance of the beast at the same time. An animal with a wings on its back and walking through the forest??? No way.(O--O)

#9 Chapter5 Beast from Water

In this chapter, they were all afraid of "Beasts" surrounding the island. The book didn't mention what beast was ,or what beasts were. But like Simon says, I think the beasts are all imagination and not exist at all.Beasts are the imagination and the creature of all the fears, and negative mind in their heart.

In some part of the this chapter, Ralph shouts that the rules are the only thing they have got holding them together,but Jack was louder and he leads rest of the boys off to search for the beast. Piggy and Ralph and Simon are left in. What I felt during reading the book is that CONCH lost its power completely. He blows it to gather everyone back but no one comes back. If both conch and Ralph can't help with Jack and his hunters, they cannot survive there forever. Jack might kill either Ralph, Piggy or Simon because he didn't listen for others at all, and if somebody disagreed with his idea he might...he might kill that guy to be in the center of the group and island.

#8 Chapter 4 Painted Faces and Long Hair

In this chapter what I can say is all about Jack.....what was he doing??? Out of the fire?? It was his job to make a fire to get the attention of the ship!! I'm so mad that he wasn't listening about Ralph's instruction and all he did in this chapter was to get a pig.... As you can see in the tile of this chapter, Jack did paint his face with 3 reddish stripe. He caught a pig afterward, so I don't think his idea is not good for the hunting, but to keep everyone together I think this paint made everyone separated in 2 teams..like Ralph's team and Jack's team which has a paint on their face.

#7 Chapter 3 Huts on the Beach

I can see that they are changing from the beginning of the book. They worked together when they got up on the island, but now Ralph and Simon were the only two who are still working to construct the shelters after working for a few days. Jack and his hunters were in the forest to hunt an animals and it didn't seems like they were all equals and together. I was surprised how Jack reacted when Ralph complains to Jack about the best thing they can do is get their selves rescued, because he was thinking what "rescue" means for a moment. I thought they are all waiting just to be rescued by somebody and that's why they're trying to survive until it happen but Jack didn't even think about how to be rescued, or who might be coming to pick them up. His idea is to catch a pig and that's all. Nothing else. I'm so nervous because he might stay there even though someone is trying to let them out from that island.

#6 Chapter 2 Fire on the Mountain

Everybody, especially Jack, is making fun of Piggy. It seems Jack and his hunters were not giving any respect to Piggy. I feel very sorry for Piggy because his opinions were right and they don't listen to his ideas at all. But one thing I like in this chapter is that Jack had the idea of using Piggy's glasses to light the fire when there were no matches. Before it happened, he couldn't get into the group because of his name, and appearance and so on but after this, his specs gives him a responsibility to light the fire. The book didn't mention, but I think this idea pulled Piggy into the group. Lord of the Flies Movie also has this specs scene so I really enjoyed to read the same part of the movie in the book too.

#5 Why "do good"

I do good because I feel comfortable when I'm doing something good. Many people are doing good to pretend themselves. If we see them doing good such as picking up the garbage, or helping old woman we think he/she is a nice person and he/she can be popular at school. Doing good is the one of the way to make itself looking good. Sometimes I'm acting very nice in the subject that I'm not good at and I think I was trying to make me feel relax by covering all the good work I've done in that class on my weaks. (my weak=can't do that subject)

#4 Bullying

I think the bullying caused by a lot of reasons such as "Jealousy". The bully might be jealous because some other girl might be more pretty or popular at school. Revenge is also in one of the cause of bullying. Maybe the victims who had been bullied become another bullies to do same thing what their bullies did to them. Another possible reason is to impress someone or want to be the center of the group or the class. All the humans have their own feeling, and impression so if someone break into it, it can't be helped.


Male bullies tend to be more physical than females. The victim may have a physical marks such as bruising or ripped clothing. Female bullies are feeling more guilty than male to use physical bullying. They tend to prefer more emotional for example, when they're working in a group they may strategize and plan to not to let her in their conversation or their work. Spreading gossip is also a common way to bully mentally.

I already watched this movie version when I was in Civics class, so I know what is going to happen after this. At the beginning of the book, I couldn't understand what was happening at there because it didn't explain about the very beginning of the story. Ralph and Piggy and other boys were talking about the atomic bomb in some part, so I think the atomic bomb attacked their place and they were trying to run away from there by airplane but they crashed on this island caused by some wether conditon..such as storm, or thunder...etc. What I thought after I read the first part of this book is that "They are strong". I imagined what I might going to do if I straded in island. Maybe I'm going to cry like a baby because I don't know what to do, and there is no doubt to be rescued, or even survived.

#2.I chose this because this project was the only one I received the mark 100%. I'm Grade11 right now, so I have to take Grade11 English course as well, but I was taking ESL in the first year which I was in Grade9 so last year was my very first class I took an academic English course in highschool.
I failed every test during English class because of my English skills... but one day, I received 40 out of 40 in one project. This is very memorable event from last year English class, I will never forget. ^^
